From the airport take the VRI and follow the signs for the A4 towards Vila Real. The A4 is a toll road with one ticketed section and the rest has electronic tolls. Follow this road until exit 13 signed Viseu onto the A24 towards Viseu, this will be after about 1 hour and after the long tunnel through the mountains. After joining the A24 take the next exit signed N322 and N323 towards Sabrosa. Follow this road through Sabrosa (over a couple of round abouts) until you get to a T junction and turn right to Pinhão.  A rather twisty road will take you down to the Douro River and Pinhão.  Before you arrive at Pinhão you will see signs to Quinta Lamelas, Gouvães to the right and follow these if you are going to this house.

To get to La Rosa just before you arrive in Pinhão, before you cross a small bridge over the River Pinhão, take a right on a sharp bend in the road.  There are lots of signs for various quintas, including La Rosa.  Keep going under a small bridge, over the railway crossing until you reach La Rosa.  Go into the first entrance with the wooden eagles on the gate and the reception is on the left - if no one is in ring the bell beside the door and someone will come

You can go on a less twisty road from Vila Real via Regua but it is some fifteen minutes longer.  Keep on the A24 towards Viseu and about fifteen minutes later, turn off this road to Regua. Before you arrive in Regua, turn left at a small roundabout and go over the bridge towards Pinhão.  After the bridge there is another mini roundabout and  turn right always following signs to Pinhão. It is a beautiful journey with the road following the river for 20 kms until you get to Pinhão. Go through Pinhão and take the left hand fork at the end of the village towards Sabrosa. Go over a small bridge over the River Pinhão and turn immediately left where there are signs to Quinta de la Rosa. Follow this road for about 1 km under the railway bridge, over the level crossing and Quinta de la Rosa in on the left. Please park in the first entrance which is clearly marked Tourism the reception is the first building on the left as you pass through the gates, parking is just beyond. There is a bell on the wall by the reception if no one is in the office.

For those going to QUINTA AMARELA, take the third turning at La Rosa and go through the La Rosa gates. The drive is quite steep, so go slowly. At the T junction turn right to Amarela.

For those going to QUINTA DE LAMELAS from Regua do not turn left towards La Rosa but continue on the road towards Sabrosa. After 5 minutes, turn left towards the village of Gouvães - there should also be a sign saying Lamelas. Wind your way up to the village and in the tiny village square turn right and then immediate left. Again there should be signs to Lamelas. Continue along this road, keeping left, you go past some houses on your right after which the road turns into a track. Keep going, you will see the cemetery down below you on your left and then you will come across a high dry stone wall on your left. Follow this keeping left until it falls away steeply on your left. Keep going straight past a small hut on your left until you come to the Lamelas gates.
