Quinta de la Rosa is proud to be associated with a selected few prestigious retailers and restaurateurs where we have bottled special cuvees on their behalf.
Quinta de la Rosa has been associated with Waitrose for many years when we sold Dourosa wine into a number of Waitrose’s larger outlets. When Waitrose decided to launch their ‘In Partnership wines’, they approached a top quality winery in each leading wine region of the world. We were thrilled to be selected and every year together with Nick Room, the buyer, we blend a special wine for them. Past wines have won Gold and Silver Medals at the International Wine Challenge.
One of our oldest private label customers, Harvey Nichols has been taking La Rosa Port for almost twenty years. Starting with the LBV and extending the range to our Ten Year Tawny, Rob Graves, wine buyer, had the brilliant idea of bottling our ports in a modern 50cl bottle. The great success of this packaging has meant our port sales have increased dramatically. Rob kindly allowed us to use the same concept for the La Rosa 50cl port range and now all La Rosa ports are bottled in the traditional 75cl or the modern 50cl bottle.
In 2012 Harvey Nichols launched their Douro Red wine based on the La Rosa blend …the front label has a steam train on it paying homage to ‘Paciência’, or patience, a term often used for the steam train that meandered slowly along the Linha do Douro in the early 1900s when La Rosa was established.
This is one of the most exciting recent projects with restauranters/chefs Mark Hix and Mitch Tonks. We started off with a white wine made for seafood in their restaurants and have extended this to red, rosé, port and olive oil. Mark’s friend, artist, Tracey Emin designed the label and the wines are now sold not only in Hix and Tonks’s restaurants but also in other countries where there is a link from Australia to Sweden. In 2012 we launched a ‘Grand Crew’ wine based on the wine from Passagem, our vineyard in the Douro Superior.
Berry Brothers (BBR) is one of the oldest wine merchants in England and own our United Kingdom importer, Fields Morris Verdin. Quinta de La Rosa provides the Berry Bros St James’s Reserve port. We also won the tender to provide BBR with its private label Vintage 2003 port.
A regional upmarket supermarket chain situated in the northwest of the UK. Edwin Booth was our first ever customer when we launched Quinta de la la Rosa Vintage 1988 port, he was the first one to buy 20 cases! Since then, Quinta de la Rosa has worked closely with Booths and has been supplying it with their own label Finest Reserve port.
In 2013 Quinta de la Rosa was awarded the prestigious position of supplying the MCC with a special reserve port. The cricket lovers in the family are thrilled by this and Patricia Bergqvist will be celebrating her 80th birthday party in the hallowed Long Room at Lords this summer.
In 2010 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Tate Modern, Quinta de la Rosa produced an own label 2000 Vintage port. Only 240 numbered bottles were labelled.
In 2015 we continued bottling special blends for important customers and bottled & labeled a unique 10 Year Tawny for Galvin restaurants
